"Going the Extra Mile!" (S4E6 on Paramount+) is the ninth episode of the fourth season, and 46th overall, of KaBlam!.

Synopsis[]

Henry and June hold a contest where the lucky winner will be given the opportunity to co-host. Unfortunately for them, the person chosen just so happens to be their number one fan, Ryan Malloy!

In Action League Now!, Hodge Podge's last stand is to get a hold of and modify the Action Mobile, so that he can control it with a large remote control. This causes Meltman, who has just gotten his driver's license, to be berated by the Action League for his terrible driving! But once the Chief takes the driver's seat, the League begins realizing that it may not have been Meltman after all who was controlling the vehicle so badly.

During Prometheus and Bob, Prometheus teaches Bob how to play with a puppy, but Monkey becomes jealous!

The Little Freaks makes its world premiere, where mutated/teenaged superheroes Braingel, Tryla and Dubbs try to stop a fashion villain, No-Face, from making everyone wearing his horribly-designed jumpsuits, which have the even more horrible ability to control the wearer's mind.

A musical interlude from They Might Be Giants is featured, where an actual worm in medical attire seeks the respect of a musical group looking for a percussionist!

Henry and June Act 1
Henry & June Fan Appreciation Day June welcomes the viewers to a very special episode of KaBlam!. Henry says today is Fan Appreciation Day, when they give something back to their beloved fans. Mr. Foot wheels out a barrel that contains entry ballots from "kablamoids" all over the country, as one lucky viewer will be chosen to be a special guest star on the show. With America waiting, it's time the co-hosts make a dream come true. Shuffling the barrel and then opening it up to retrieve one of the ballots, Henry and June announce the lucky fan is...Mr. Ryan Malloy! However, this is much to their disappointment, as June realizes it's the "weird kid" from school. Ryan walks on set and can't believe he won, as June wonders how he got down so fast. Ryan says he was waiting outside the studio, just in case he won, telling Henry it was some luck, but he isn't impressed. Ryan wonders if he can get a guided tour of their dressing rooms, since he brought special Ziploc bags so he can take home their dirty socks without upsetting the DNA. June says they'd love that, but it just so happens to be time for Action League Now!. Ryan wants to turn the page, although June says to not do it so hard! However, he doesn't listen, and rips a piece of the page off. Ryan stows it away in one of his Ziploc bags, while June turns the rest of the page.

Tune Up of Terror

At Bill the Lab Guy's lab, the brilliant brainiac applies his decades of scientific study to an oil change. The Chief tells Bill to hurry up, as Hodge Podge is on the loose again, and the Action League needs the Action Mobile ASAP! After the Chief leaves, Hodge Podge reveals himself wearing Bill's legs, while Bill is struggling with the rest of his body in a beaker, wondering what Hodge Podge has done to the Action Mobile. He explains to the "half a lab guy" that the Action Mobile is going to be unsafe at any speed! At Action HQ, the Chief explains that Hodge Podge is out there like a "bad smell on a bouillabaisse" so the League must get a move on! Meltman offers to drive, but everyone else isn't amused. However, Meltman insists that he's ready as he finally has his driver's license! Stinky Diver guesses the DMV got tired of Meltman coming down and wrecking all of their cars, yet the Chief reluctantly agrees to let him drive, but just once. An excited Meltman then gets behind the wheel and starts up the Action Mobile. The Chief tells Meltman to go easy on the gas pedal, but before he can, Hodge Podge uses his remote control to move the Action Mobile on its own, causing it to run over the rest of the League and crash down over the stairs. A worried Meltman wonders if vehicles are supposed to have airbags, before getting crushed by one. As punishment for the assumed bad driving, the Chief cuts Meltman's driver's license in half. Meltman argues that it wasn't his fault; the Action Mobile was driving on its own! The Chief doesn't believe it and tells Meltman the only thing he'll be driving is a desk. The rest of the League takes off in the Action Mobile for Hodge Podge, while Bill (minus his legs) arrives in a go-kart and tells Meltman that Hodge Podge planted a remote control device in the Action Mobile, so it's a death trap. Meltman is relieved and is glad he's not with them, but Bill urges they have to stop them. Meltman agrees, climbing aboard Bill's go-kart and thinks this is his big chance to be a hero, and to prove he can drive. Meltman starts up the go-kart, but accidentally launches Bill into a table leg and apologizes, as he's not used to power brakes. Meanwhile, the rest of the League is looking for Hodge Podge, who is behind a couch cushion and uses his remote control to make the Action Mobile drive in circles, which gets Stinky nauseous! Thundergirl asks the Chief if he took a driving lesson from Meltman, but he assures her that he is a great driver, and can adjust. The Action Mobile crashes again, and the Chief begins to question what's going on. Meltman and Bill then show up, trying to tell the Chief to stop the Action Mobile. However, Hodge Podge sees this as a chance to kill two birds with one stone and runs over Bill's go-kart by controlling the Action Mobile. Eventually, the League and Hodge Podge meet face to face, where Hodge Podge makes the Action Mobile drive into the road, right into the path of a big, oncoming car!

Henry and June Act 2
Ryan uncovers rare footage Action League Now!...now that's what June calls "kablamedy!" Ryan says that was a good one, liking it the first time she used it back in Episode 42. He thinks it will make a great "ka-fun" fact for his website, kablamfan.com. June grumbles that her laptop is busted, so Ryan assumes that she and Henry haven't seen his "Henry and June: Before They Were Stars" page, where he has posted their first media appearances. June is shown in a DumpyNaps Diapers commercial, much to her embarrassment. Ryan says if they thought that was cool, then he even got Henry's first television appearance on America's Nuttiest Home Videos, where he yanks on the tail of a cow and gets kicked back into a barn. Ryan wonders if that was quite "ka-sterical," before Henry and June thank him for stopping by, but he's got to go as they've got a show to do. Ryan tells them to wait, as the advertisement for the contest says the lucky winner gets to stay for the whole show, so they've got plenty of time to hang out! A frustrated June can hardly wait, as she turns the page to Prometheus and Bob.

Prometheus and Bob
Prom & Bob Pet

Tape #406, Pet

Prometheus uncovers a basket with a small puppy, showing Bob how to take care of it. Monkey wants in on the fun, but Prometheus shoos him away. The puppy then urinates on Bob, as he falls backwards in fear. Next, Prometheus shows how to play a game of fetch with the puppy. He throws the stick, but Bob goes after it instead. After bringing it back to Prometheus, he throws it again and the puppy goes after it, playing the game on its own (or so it seems) until Prometheus finds out that Monkey was playing with it and chases after him. Then, Prometheus has built a doghouse for the puppy to go in, but lifts it up to see that Monkey is in there too, cuddling with the puppy. Bob decides to wear the doghouse as a helmet, walking away, and Monkey howls to summon a pair of wolves at Prometheus! Finally, the wolves have surrounded Prometheus while Monkey and the puppy are still cuddling. Bob plays a game of fetch with Monkey, who tosses the stick towards the camera. Bob finds the stick, and headbutts the camera to destroy it.

Just as it looks like the Action Mobile is about to be flattened by the big car, Meltman says he doesn't brake for evil, driving Bill the Lab Guy's go-kart into Hodge Podge which pushes him into the road and causes him to lose control of his remote. This gives the Chief just enough time to steer out of the way of the big car! Hodge Podge complains why his remote doesn't work on big cars, as he gets flattened. Later that day as the Action League cleans up the road, the Chief then tells Meltman that as a reward for saving him and the League, he can drive the Action Mobile whenever he wants! An excited Meltman gets behind the wheel as the Chief reminds Meltman once again to go easy on the gas, but he doesn't pay attention and runs over the rest of the League.

Henry and June Act 3
Ryan's playing the director Henry and June welcome everyone back to Fan Appreciation Day, as they're feeling very appreciative right now, because their extremely annoying, number one fan seems to have taken their hint and made himself scarce. June is wondering what's the deal with the cameras, as one of them bonks Henry on the head. Ryan calls for a cut and to try it again, berating Camera 1's work, with the operator looking back at him in annoyance. However, Ryan tells Henry and June not to worry, as they were perfect. June wonders what Ryan is doing in the control room, and he explains that he's directing this segment of the show, as per the contest advertisement, the lucky winner will get a chance to join in on all of the behind-the-scenes action! June, however, thinks this isn't what she and Henry had in mind. Ryan understands, and knows what they're looking for, by creating various "Henry & June" banners which fill the screen. Henry asks June to remind him the next time they have a contest, but she says they won't and now introduces a little treat called The Little Freaks.

The Little Freaks
The Little Freaks In the studio of the evil-fashioned villain, No-Face, he says the best fashion is ONE fashion! He is releasing special moths into the atmosphere that are now eating everyone's clothes. As the famished moths munch, overexposed citizens are forced to wear No-Face's personal line of jumpsuits. He is overjoyed that his plan is working, as Center City is thrown into a state of total uniformity. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, a small band of unlikely heroes known as the Little Freaks are studying the perplexing predicament. Tryla says the group has to do something, as the sheer fabric of self-expression is dangling by a thread. Mike and Michael Dubbs think Tryla is right, because if everyone is forced to wear No-Face's jumpsuits, everyone will look the same! Braingel clarifies their clothes will, at least. Tryla believes that jumpsuits are an assault on a person's sense of self-identity. Desperate for a solution, the Little Freaks as a whole are relying on Braingel for a plan. Suddenly, but not surprisingly, Braingel's beautiful brain goes dead, and he says he wants to be a dentist. But then, his brain comes alive again! With the kind of speed you only see in cartoons, the Little Freaks prepare to launch themselves directly into the lair of the evil haberdasher. No-Face says first he will control what they wear, then what they think, and then the world will be his! Suddenly, the Little Freaks land in his lair, but they are outnumbered, and Tryla wonders where Dubbs is. However, Mike and Michael missed the mark and landed instead in the dark, lonely but rent-controlled apartment of an aging disco queen. However, she is friendly and gives them a disco ball. Arriving at No-Face's lair, Dubbs displays the "luminescent" gift as the intoxicating beat of disco music begins to fill the air. No-Face's lonely and overworked moths are quickly drawn to the light, the excitement and the chance to meet someone nice. No-Face says this isn't a school dance, as he's trying to take over the world! Braingel, Dubbs and Tryla say the moths like the nightlife and like to boogie. No-Face is distraught, and now resorts to selling his jumpsuits. Once again, Center City has been saved by the Little Freaks, as an individual expression through fashion has returned to the quiet urban hamlet!

Henry and June Act 4
Henry & June plotting against Ryan June wonders if they should just turn out all the lights, as Ryan will think the show is over and leave. However, Henry notices the camera is rolling, and welcomes everyone back. June lies that she and Henry were just trying to figure out how to show appreciation to their lucky contest winner, until a stagehand walks by and grabs a curtain that's part of the set. Ryan struggles with a piece of plywood with the KaBlam! logo on it, and Henry wonders what he's up to. Ryan explains that the advertisement for the contest says the winner is entitled to a souvenir from the show, so he just happens to be taking his souvenir; the set. Ryan will be back in a flash, inadvertently knocking down the barrel of the contest entries. Henry says he and June have got to do something, before she discovers all of the ballots have Ryan's name on them. While they get to the bottom of that, the viewers can get to the bottom of a brand new video; it's "Doctor Worm" from They Might Be Giants!

"Doctor Worm"

A music video produced by The Ink Tank. Doctor Worm, an actual worm in medical attire, seeks the respect of a musical group looking for a percussionist.

Henry and June Act 5
Ryan Fraud Footage Henry and June are back with their lucky Fan Appreciation Day contest winner, Ryan Malloy. Ryan still can't believe he's here with them, and quite frankly, Henry says neither can they. June recalls Ryan showing rare footage of her and Henry from earlier, so they have decided to show some rare footage of him. Ryan thinks that's a great idea, but is then curious of exactly what the footage is. June explains it just so happens to be a security camera video of Ryan stuffing a contest ballot box with his own ballots. Ryan is nervous, yet admits that certainly is some rare footage. He hopes Henry and June aren't mad, as they order Mr. Foot to place Ryan in the trunk of a car; he can't help but be excited that he is getting the same treatment Hector got in Episode 14 and Glenn Dilworth in Episode 33! Henry bids a fond farewell to their lucky contest winner, and June says they'll see everyone next time on a cartoon-crammed and contest-free episode of KaBlam!, closing the comic book.
