"KaFun!" is the 11th episode of the third season, and 37th overall, of KaBlam!. It is also the Season 3 finale.

Synopsis[]

Henry and June introduce KaBlam! Sports, bringing the viewers the latest scores from baseball, golf, basketball and football! They then wear sunglasses to look cool and use deodorant, making them smell good. Later, the fourth wall takes a big hit as Henry admits KaBlam! is nowhere close to being "live," presenting a pre-planned storyboard of his and June's actions. Finally, the show's Japanese counterpart, KaFun!, is revealed featuring hosts Herman and Jan, but Herman actually turns out to be Henry!

In Action League Now!, the Action League must convince an entire courtroom of their actions in the past to avoid termination. Meltman, Thundergirl and Stinky Diver each step up and talk about why they deserve to remain a unit, only to be shut down by a previous instance being brought up with many flashbacks, old and new, used as examples for both! In the end, it's up to the Flesh to do the convincing, and if he cannot pull together a solid excuse, the League is done for.

During Prometheus and Bob, Prometheus teaches Bob about the uses of glue, but they (and Monkey) get into a sticky situation!

In Life with Loopy, Loopy uses Cupid's "computer love match service" to find a girl for Larry to go to a dance with.

Another musical interlude from Jimminy Kroekel is featured, where an astronaut tries to get to "the big pizza in the center of the galaxy" via a rocket!

Untalkative Bunny is featured, where a mute, yellow anthropomorphic rabbit named Bunny takes a call from a telemarketer who offers him a newspaper subscription.

Henry and June Act 1
Henry & June Sports Ticker Henry and June flip into the comic book, but speak to the viewers with their backs turned. Turning around, red-faced in embarrassment, they get back to business just before a KaBlam! Sports ticker suddenly appears from below! June is excited that the Toledo Mud Hens are up by two runs in their Triple-A baseball game against the Columbus Clippers, but Henry doesn't understand. June explains that every 15 minutes, up-to-the-minute sports updates will be given from KaBlam!, the full-service cartoon show. As the bar changes to a result from the Krebstar Tour, June roots for Tiger Woods who has the lead over Mark O'Meara and David Duval, yet Henry thinks it's pathetic. June agrees, seeing that Nebraska is losing to Ohio University in the second half of a college basketball game. Henry says while June has ruined what could have been a perfectly good cartoon show, he recommends everyone watch Action League Now!. Before turning the page to it, June is pulling for the Minnesota Vikings, who trail the New York Giants, 17-10, in the third quarter.

Action League Now!
Action League Now! And Justice for None

And Justice for None

At the Hall of Action Heroes, three judges tell the Action League they've been called for a very serious reason. Meltman says if it's about his bonus, then the check should be made out in cash. However, the judges silence him and have reviewed the League's record of utter stupidity, deciding to terminate them. The Flesh asks if that's bad, as everyone else glares at him. The League begs the judges not to terminate them, who then decide to give each member a chance to appeal the decision. Meltman is called up first, asked if he can cite any examples of his personal heroism that might persuade the judges to reconsider. Meltman thinks for a few seconds, then tells them about the time Stinky Diver turned in his badge during Flippers of Fury, and Meltman caught it in his back before someone lost an eye. Next, he tells them about the time in Science Fiction Parody he made the perfect landing space for a ship commandeered by aliens, so its bottom wouldn't be badly scratched. Lastly, he tells them about the time from Where Pigeons Dare he got run over by an ice cream truck while attempting to save an egg, but the Chief and Stinky muffle him before he can continue. Meltman pleads he has a million more reasons, but his appeal is denied! Thundergirl testifies next. She tells the judges that they may come short when it comes to personal achievements, but as a team, they shine! During In the Whine of Fire, the League was on a routine patrol and saw popstar Johnny Cool hung high above boiling hot creamed corn. The judges think it's impressive, but then urge Thundergirl to tell them what happened next. Sure enough, what happened next was Johnny falling into the creamed corn because Meltman chickened out and failed to help. However, he argues with her over whether or not it was his blame, but Thundergirl's appeal is denied, regardless. Stinky is called to testify next, who tells the judges to go ahead and break the League up, but they shouldn't come crying when evil rears its ugly head. Referring to Roboflesh, Stinky says the world needs heroes like himself that aren't afraid to pull the trigger. Speaking of "pulling the trigger," the judges ask Stinky if he's ever considered a non-violent approach, and a montage is shown; in Danger Society he shoots his spear gun, with the spear landing through Meltman's head, during Flippers of Fury he hits the Red Ninja, in Rags to Riches he fires at the mummy, during Art of Thunder he blasts at Timmy's painting My Techer and in Science Fiction Parody he shoots at the aliens' leader, Zantak. Obviously, Stinky hasn't considered it, and the judges deny his appeal. The judges tell the League that they have one last chance to change their minds before they terminate them. The Chief asks who hasn't gone yet, and it just so happens to be the Flesh! Knowing all hope is lost, the Chief tells everyone he'll see them at the reunion show.

Henry and June Act 2
Henry & June Sun Glasses June says Action League Now! is not bad for one of those cruddy, money-saving flashback episodes. Henry walks in, wearing sunglasses, and June asks if the glare in the studio is bothering him. However, Henry explains he just got back from the optometrist, who put some drops in his eyes and recommended he should wear the shades for the rest of the day, as that's the name of that tune. June isn't amused, and tells Henry to take off the sunglasses. Henry wishes he could, but "doctor's orders" prevent him, and she can take that to the bank. June gets annoyed and says Henry can take this to the bank, pulling the sunglasses off and he screams in pain! June mentions that Jennifer Love Hewitt just showed up, and Henry looks around for her. June knows that he was just trying to fake it, but Henry resumes screaming, yelling that he can't see! June now puts the sunglasses on, and announces the name of the next tune; Prometheus and Bob.

Prometheus and Bob
Prom & Bob Glue

Tape #12, Glue

Prometheus shows Bob how to use glue. Smashing a pot, Prometheus puts it back together with some of the glue. Bob wants to try next, but he smashes the bowl with the glue. Next, Prometheus smashes another pot and puts it back together with glue, while a tired Bob places his hand on the table but is stuck due to all the glue that spilled on it. Waving the table around, Bob knocks Prometheus unconscious and then wails for help. Then, Monkey helps Bob by applying glue to his other hand and sticking it on Prometheus's saucer. Monkey tries to awaken Prometheus as Bob sets off the saucer's alarm before it takes off in the air, leaving Prometheus distraught! Finally, Bob is in the air, with his hands stuck on the saucer and the table, as Prometheus chases after him. Monkey tries to help by sticking Prometheus's feet to a rock, but they and Bob all fly into the camera, destroying it!

Action League Now!
Action League Now! And Justice for None

And Justice for None

The judges tell the Flesh that it's all up to him, and unless he can change their minds, they must terminate the Action League. The Flesh tells the judges about when he was in the fourth grade and went to a real farm, getting to milk a cow! Stinky Diver is disappointed, as the Chief says that he's supposed to be telling the judges about the League! The Flesh, following the Chief's order, continues his testimony and a montage is shown; where in Flesh and Blood he tripped while carrying a bust that crushes his fake parents, during Testimony of Terror he throws Meltman up to the doorbell, in Danger for a Dignitary, he trips and the ambassador is run over by a car, during Tears of a Clone he lifts his tuna can weight which inadvertently hits his clones and in Revenge of Hodge Podge, he causes Hodge Podge, then the League's accountant, to be chopped up in a blender. However, his appeal is denied and the judges rule that the League is hereby terminated! With the League done for, Stinky thinks he doesn't need his spear gun anymore. He tosses it to the ground, where it shoots at a pillar that knocks over several other ones, eventually crushing the judges. The Chief jokes that's one ruling which was "struck down" as everyone laughs!

Henry and June Act 3
Henry & June Deodorant June almost forgot she was watching a clever repacking of Action League Now! episodes she's already seen before. Henry says to tell him about it, until June notices he's leaking in his armpits. Henry is glad he's wearing his deodorant, as it keeps him smelling morning fresh all day long! June thinks it's so "grown up," and Henry guesses that girls don't always mature faster than boys. June asks if he smells anything, but Henry says in her dreams. June is saddened by that, but Henry shrugs, taking another sniff and thinks he didn't smell it at first, but something is definitely "reeking" in there. June is excited, and Henry (crossing his fingers behind him) means it! He then hands off his deodorant stick to June, as she applies it to her armpits and feels so "teenagery." Henry applies deodorant to his and feels the same way. While they deal with their rapidly-changing bodies, June tells the viewers to deal with a new Life with Loopy.

Life with Loopy
Life with Loopy Larry's Girl

"Larry's Girl"

Larry says you can call him Mr. Picky, but when it comes to dating, he won't just settle for any girl. Unfortunately, on the day of the big school dance, he hadn't settled on anyone while watching The Charlie Chicken Show with his sister, Loopy. She laughs after watching Turkey Thompson prank Charlie Chicken, but wonders what's with Larry as he usually loves the show, but he's not in the mood. Loopy assures there's got to be 95.5 billion girls out there, but Larry thinks she is too young to understand. If he can't find a girl that's right for him, he'll just go to the school dance by himself. After Larry storms out of the living room, on the television is a commercial for Love Bytes, the high-tech computer dating agency that has romance down to a science. Loopy decides to visit it and finds Cupid, where high-tech romance is his game. Loopy asks him what's wrong with his bow and arrow, but Cupid explains that it's just part of the costume and one has to move with the times, as nowadays love is demographics and disk drives. He attempts to set up a guy for Loopy, but she clarifies her brother Larry is the one in need, and Cupid asks what he's looking for. Loopy says Larry is real picky, looking for someone special and unique and that is really out of this world. Cupid enters a search request and downloads files, unveiling an alien who demands the designated humanoid be brought so they can experience new romantic stimulation. Loopy thinks Larry isn't into tentacles, so Cupid tries again. Meanwhile at the dance, Larry arrives by himself, before Loopy and Cupid unveil his date, a girl named Saffron. Larry asks her if she hangs out, and Saffron says she is really into it. Larry offers a dance, and Saffron thought he'd never ask. As Larry takes off his jacket, Saffron is surprised at his Charlie Chicken sweater and she feels like barfing. Loopy asks Cupid what's the deal as he works on his laptop to find a solution, while Saffron tells Larry The Charlie Chicken Show is the biggest "nerd fest" on national television. However, he takes offense, saying she wouldn't know quality entertainment if it kicked her in the keister. Cupid has to check his database, but Loopy pulls his bow and arrow off of him, saying they've got to do it the old-fashioned way. She fires an arrow, but misses, admitting it's harder than it looks. Another girl named Stacy, also wearing a Charlie Chicken sweater, wonders who shot the arrow at her, but sees Larry, and they instantly fall in love. Larry says waiting for the right girl was worth it after all, but just wishes Loopy was old enough to understand romance, because then him and Stacy could spend some time alone for a change. Instead, Larry and Stacy are annoyed with Loopy sitting between them while they all watch The Charlie Chicken Show.

Henry and June Act 4
Henry & June Almost Alive June welcomes back the viewers "almost live," but Henry cuts in and says he can't live the lie any longer, questioning everyone how he and June have always said they're almost live. Well, they're not almost live...or kinda, sorta live...or even just an eensy teensy bit live. In fact, they are not live at all! June gets nervous, and asks what Henry is doing. He takes her line, where it seemed live, but presents a storyboard, showing that every movement and every word of theirs is planned out months in advance by the animators. June tries to cover up the storyboard, thinking Henry is talking crazy, until once again he shows her that exact action in the storyboard to prove his case! Henry tells June to face the music, as there's not one single thing that happens on the show that they don't already know about. Suddenly, the KaBlam! Sports ticker returns, squishing Henry, and June admits he's right again. She is excited to see that Nebraska has taken the lead over Ohio University in the second half of their college basketball game! While June gets her sports fix, the viewers can get their cartoon fix with Untalkative Bunny.

Untalkative Bunny
Untalkactive Bunny Bunny sits in the living room, until suddenly he is frightened by the phone ringing in the kitchen. Answering it, on the other end is Lina, who calls on behalf of a local newspaper. She won't keep him long, thinking Bunny is busy doing housework or he has guests over, so she will make her call as brief as possible. Lina asks if Bunny has ever thought of subscribing to the local newspaper as he shakes his head, if not, then he should think about it. Before Bunny can say anything, Lina offers that if he subscribe to the newspaper right now, he'll receive four weeks delivery of the weekend edition absolutely free of charge. Bunny jumps up and down in excitement and kisses the phone, as Lina assumes that he could be thinking there may be some kind of catch. However, she says there is no catch and there is no gimmick; the paper will be delivered straight to his door for the next four weeks. Lina then asks why should Bunny read the paper when he could just watch the news on television as he nods in agreement, but she says the weekend newspaper is more than just news; it has the business report, sports with all the scores one would want to know about, the fashion file, an in-depth analysis of world events, plus the weekly TV listings and the full-color weekend funnies. That's not all because as a new subscriber, Bunny will receive an added special bonus; a free gift pack of valuable money-saving coupons, redeemable at participating local retailers. Lina asks for a name and address to make out the subscription, but Bunny hangs up, although he waves goodbye to the phone. Going back to sit in the living room, the phone rings once again as Bunny is startled and looks around.

Henry and June Act 5
Henry KaFun! June says she and Henry are supposed to end on an "up note," but points out in a TV Guide from Japan that they are ripping off KaBlam! big time. Henry looks at it as there is a show called KaFun!, where "cartoons and comics crash into each other," and he is shocked! June continues to read in the TV Guide that the show has segments called Action League Soon! as well as Prometheus and Yoshi, and worst of all...its hosts are named Herman and Jan. Henry wonders what's this world coming to, and addresses those from that other network who are watching, by giving them a word called "integrity." Pulling out a dictionary, he tells them to look it up! June couldn't agree more, and suggests a clip from KaFun! be shown just to see how lame it is. Henry is surprised, because he thinks that's what they want them to do and are playing right into their hands, but June says the truth shall set them free! As the clip plays, Jan and "Herman," who is actually Henry, introduce themselves. June is livid, and says Henry is so "ka-dead." He tries to play it off, not seeing the resemblance, until June rolls up the TV Guide and hits Henry with it, despite pleading to her that it would be different and he was set up, repeatedly as the comic book closes!

Trivia[]

  • Doraemon in Kablam

    Doraemon on the cover

The "Krebstar Tour" seen in the KaBlam! Sports ticker is an ode to The Adventures of Pete & Pete, a Nickelodeon live-action show created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi, who would later be co-creators of KaBlam!. Krebstar was the name of a corporation in that show's world, which provided most of the consumer products therein.
  • First and only KaBlam! appearance of Untalkative Bunny, which was its pilot episode (it had been shown before on the MTV adult-animation showcase program Cartoon Sushi). A full series later aired on the Canadian network Teletoon from April 15, 2001, to July 4, 2003, with 39 episodes (195 short films, five per episode) over three seasons.
  • Because two of the segments' airing rights (Untalkative Bunny and "Pizza Rocket") were only available while it was on Nickelodeon, the episode was considered lost media since its last airing on that channel in 2001, but Henry and June segment creator Mark Marek uploaded it on his website in December 2015, making the episode finally seen again for new audiences. However, this has prevented "KaFun!" to be available for streaming on Paramount+.
  • On the cover of the Japanese magazine Henry and June were reading in Act 5, there's Doraemon cameo (except that he was coloured purple instead of blue)
