Surprising Shorts is a feature in the Henry and June segments on Season 1 of the Nickelodeon animated sketch comedy series KaBlam!, usually showing one-off segments.
Each time Surprising Shorts was presented, in the main comic June pulls down Henry's pants, revealing "surprising" boxer shorts of ducks, flowers, puppies, Henry's face or President Richard Nixon. Henry then shuffles across the screen with his pants still around his ankles while June stares at his underwear and turns the page of the comic, starting the short.
List of Shorts[]
- Lava! — This appears the most out of all, in the episodes "Comics for Tomorrow Today!", "Not Just for People Anymore!", "All Purpose KaBlam!", "KaBlam! Gets Results" and "Better Than A Poke In The Eye!," but in the latter it is not seen with the Surprising Shorts intro preceding it because it is a Season 2 episode. The story of each segment is random. Its copyright for KaBlam! has expired, and thus depending on how long they are, they are either cut from episodes (if it is brief) or episodes with it has been banned (for longer segments). Most international airings cut out these segments from not only the episode itself, but also from the end credits.
- Anemia and Iodine — Appears in the episode "What the Astronauts Drink!". It involves two girls trying to find a cat, who is a ghost, in a haunted house.
- Angela Anaconda — Appears in the episodes "Untitled (Why June Refuses to Turn the Page)" and "Comics of Champions," however in the former it is only seen with the Surprising Shorts intro preceding it. An 8-year-old girl named Angela Anaconda lives in the fictional town of Tapwater Springs, finding herself unpopular in school. Angela Anaconda later became a series that aired on Fox Family from 1999 to 2002.
Trivia[]
- The backdrop of the Surprising Shorts segment in "What the Astronauts Drink!" is space-themed, like everything else in the episode (except Anemia and Iodine).
