"The Best of Both Worlds" (S4E2 on Paramount+) is the fourth episode of the fourth season, and 41st overall, of KaBlam!.

Synopsis[]

Henry and June have a little inspiration to visit the "real world" after seeing slide photographs of it. Throughout the episode, we'll watch our kablammy co-hosts attempt to visit the magical place beyond the fourth wall!

In Action League Now!, a giant meteor is coming towards Earth, and only the Action League can stop it. They begin proper training to be sent to space with an explosive that can deteriorate the meteor! Of course, in true series fashion, the League discovers that they have left the explosives behind once the shuttle takes off!

During Prometheus and Bob, Prometheus the alien meets and befriends a caveman named Bob, and inadvertently frees a monkey from two other cavemen.

In Life with Loopy, Loopy tries several attempts to help her flightless duck friend, Mike, go airborne!

The Shizzagee makes its world premiere. A boy named Brutus McGrutus and his shizzagee companion, Shiz, head to the Amazon to find another shizzagee, in hopes they aren't all extinct! Brutus and Shiz are then ambushed by the biologist Clive Khaki, who hosts his own nature show in the Amazon.

Henry and June Act 1
Henry & June Storage Room June greets the fellow "kablama-nauts" to another episode of KaBlam!, while introducing herself and Henry, but he is nowhere to be found until calling to her from the basement off set. Henry spooks June with a tiki mask before he tells her to look around, wondering where all the junk came from. June heard there was a travel show in the studio before, so it must be some of its stuff. Henry then finds a projector and turns it on, as June says it's amazing. Henry thinks the "drawings" are really lousy, but June explains they are actual slide photographs of the "real world." Henry has heard stories about it, but never dreamed it could actually exist. June wants to see it for herself and wants to "get real," but Henry doesn't see why they should bother, as the real world doesn't look that great. However, his mind is changed after seeing one of the slide photographs featuring two people on bikes, and he wants to go too, asking June how they can get there! June thinks the entrance could be anywhere, such as an attic door that Henry pulls down, but a plethora of items come crashing down on them. Speaking of getting hit on the head with heavy objects, June turns the page to a brand new episode of Action League Now!.

Armageddon Outta Here

At Desktop Observatory, Bill the Lab Guy shows the Action League the joys of stargazing through his telescope, pointing out Andromeda and the Crab Nebula. The Flesh asks them what they are looking at as Bill tells him "the stars." The Flesh wants to see Sandra Bullock's, as he knocks down everyone else in an attempt to look through the telescope, too! A frustrated Bill looks through the telescope again and was afraid of this...a meteor is heading towards Earth! Meltman, Stinky Diver and the Flesh devise a daring strategy, by making excuses to get out of the mission. The Chief, however, tells the "nimrods" that they're all they've got. Bill explains his plan to the League, saying that they will be sent on a rocket to intercept the meteor and knock it off course with some really big bombs. The League, all of a sudden, likes this plan! With extinction imminent, they begin their crash course in astronaut training. In the kitchen, Bill and the Chief put the League in a salad spinner (a g-force simulator to prepare them for the gravitational effects of take-off). The Chief pulls the rope, which spins the spinner really fast and makes the League dizzy and nauseous. The spinner then falls down over the kitchen shelf and crashes into a wall, but Thundergirl is satisfied that the arugula is crisp. Next, the League stands on a bullseye as Bill says that the pressure simulator will prepare them for the extreme conditions of deep space. Stinky observes that it looks like a sledgehammer as Bill hits the League with it, clarifying it's a simulation of a sledgehammer. Finally, the League is on a slingshot. Bill is about to explain the effects of the launch simulator, but Stinky tells him to just get it over with, as the slingshot then launches them into the ceiling. Moments later at Cape Crabgrass, the League is in the rocket as it is launched into space. Bill says the future of mankind is in the League's hands. The Chief thinks everyone is going to die, and Bill agrees. Meanwhile in space, the League approaches the meteor, stopping when Thundergirl notices it on the rocket's radar. The Chief then appears on the screen and tells them to arm and deploy the bombs. The shocked League suddenly remembers that they forgot to bring them. The Chief angrily tells them that he asked them if they had everything before they left, and the Flesh thought he meant their toothbrushes. Meltman then says that they're going to head back home, but the more-enraged Chief disapproves that they must crash into the meteor, and that's an order! Meltman ignores him and purposely cuts off their transmission as Stinky says as much as he likes the people of Earth, he won't risk his life to save theirs and is going to turn the rocket around. However, Stinky accidentally breaks the steering wheel, dooming the League.

Henry and June Act 2
Henry & June Getting back to Reality Everyone is welcomed back to the Henry and June "Get Real!" Expedition. June says she's figured out a brilliant plan to get to the real world, by running towards the camera but crashes into it! Henry is sure there's a more civilized way to travel, as he takes her to Get Outta Town Travel. The travel agent asks them where they would like to go today, and Henry tells her the real world. She is confused, but June explains it's that place beyond the proverbial fourth wall, and Henry adds that it's the place with cool bikes and bad drawings. The travel agent still isn't amused, but Henry and June will pay her, so she cues up two tickets to the real world. Now on their flight, June wonders where the seatbelts are, and Henry hopes for some honey roasted peanuts, until they get catapulted into the camera. Meanwhile, the travel agent sorts her money and is on the phone, after selling a couple of "chumps" tickets to the real world. She then turns the page to Prometheus and Bob.

Prometheus and Bob
Prom & Bob Tape -1

Tape #1

Prometheus, an alien, has just landed on Earth with one of his robot assistants, until they hear noise, taking cover. Three cavemen have captured a monkey, until Prometheus greets them and they run away. One of the cavemen, named Bob, stays behind, as Prometheus helps him up to his feet and then lasers off some of his hair, but Bob faints in shock. Monkey trips up Prometheus and then grabs the laser to free himself. Next, Prometheus lasers off Bob's facial hair, before getting distracted by Monkey playing with his space helmet, until Prometheus sends his robot after Monkey. Bob grabs the laser to cut off the rest of his scalp hair, until Prometheus places his helmet on Bob. Then, Bob is still playing with Prometheus's helmet, before they fight for control of it. A spear is thrown at the helmet by one of the other cavemen, until Bob communicates with them to explain what's going on. Monkey rides back with the robot, scaring off the cavemen, as Prometheus leads Bob into his saucer. Monkey is able to cling to it before it takes off, while the robot crashes into the camera.

Armageddon Outta Here

As a deadly showdown approaches with the meteor, the ill-fated four of the Action League reflect on the meaning of their lives. Thundergirl is upset that she never got to direct, Meltman thinks even though he's just a chunk of melted plastic, he tried, Stinky Diver says everyone else isn't such "tossers" after all, and the Flesh realizes he's naked! The League's rocket crashes straight into the meteor, and moments later, they regain consciousness, seeing that they've landed on the meteor, having knocked it off course and Earth is saved! Thundergirl thinks they're going to give the League the biggest parade after returning, but the League realizes Earth is millions of miles away from them and they're still stuck on the meteor. Back on Earth, Bill the Lab Guy tells the Chief not to worry, as according to his calculations, the meteor will return to the Earth's orbit in the next 100,000 years, but the Chief, who is wearing a fez and holding a drink, doesn't look worried at all!

Henry and June Act 3
Mr Foot Nose Hair Trimming June thinks that Action League Now! episode was certainly...whatever. Now, she and Henry get back to what's really important, their "Get Real" expedition! Despite their recent setbacks, Henry and June are more determined than ever to find the real world, all they need is just a little "elbow grease." Henry begins drilling through a wall, as June explains that he's using the same tunnel boring machine, or TBM, that was used to dig the Chunnel! Henry sees the light as he and June then listen to what they think are real-world "bees," betting the honey tastes even sweeter there. As Henry and June approach the hole, they see a bathroom, where Mr. Foot is trimming his nose hair, leaving them disgusted. Henry turns the page to Life with Loopy.

Life with Loopy
Life with Loopy I don't believe I can fly

"I (Don't) Believe I Can Fly"

Larry says since the dawn of time, man has dreamed of conquering the skies. The history books are filled with great heroes, such as the Wright brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart...but now one more name can be added to that list, Loopy. One week ago, she is in the kitchen eating until hearing a loud thud. Going outside to investigate, Loopy pulls her friend Mike out of Mrs. Cooper's chrysanthemum patch. Mike explains he is learning how to fly, as all of his pals are migrating back to Canada during the weekend and is going to be left behind again unless he gets his wings in gear! Loopy tells Mike he's a Canadian flightless duck, but he tells her a duck who can't fly is like hockey without ice, or pancakes with no maple syrup. Loopy understands, and will get Mike up there somehow, as "where there's a wing, there's a way." For their first attempt, Loopy places Mike in a clothesline and launches him, but he flies right into the backyard fence. Next, Loopy puts a leaf blower/jetpack on Mike, and he is able to get up in the air, but its fuel runs out and he crashes to the ground. Finally, Loopy tries inflating Mike, but after expelling a little gas, he deflates and comes back down. Mike thinks it's a bummer, and he's never going to get his frequent flyer miles at this rate. Loopy encourages Mike to keep his beak up, as they'll get a fresh start in the morning. The next day, Mike finds Loopy working in the garage on a flying machine, as he questions if it's safe. However, she thinks it's "safe as San Andreas" and they wheel it down to the airfield. Mike doesn't know if he can go through with it, but Loopy tells him all he has to do is flap his wings and paddle like crazy. Mike still thinks he can't do it as he'll never be renowned for getting off the ground, and Loopy gives up hope. However, she trips onto a banner trailing a departing airplane, and Mike is worried that Loopy is heading for the powerlines! Mike takes off in the flying machine, and despite it coming apart in mid-air, he is able to flap his wings and fly on his own, rescuing Loopy. She knew Mike could do it, all he needed was a little inspiration, acknowledging the airplane pilot. Mike now sees his buddies taking off, and it's time for him to fly. Larry says the power to fly may be an awesome thing, but it doesn't mean "diddly" compared to the power of friendship, as Mike and Loopy share a hug. Mike flys away and bids farewell until next year, and Loopy hopes he'll send her a postcard!

Henry and June Act 4
Henry & June (Real) World Henry and June are back, and as the viewers can see, still as "cartoony" as ever. Henry guesses he and June will never make it to the real world, but they can't say they didn't give it their best shot, yet have just got to face facts, it's impossible. June thinks Henry is right, until she sees a door that says "REAL WORLD" on it. They go through it and now appear in full live-action, as Henry thinks they're "badly-drawn" too! June points out bikes, just like they saw in the picture, and they get on them! Henry wonders what they do now, and June hasn't a clue, until they fall over on the bikes. Henry and June experience "real-world pain" as they run back to the door and into the studio as cartoon characters again. Speaking of "cartoon," June asks Henry for one and he turns the page to the world premiere of The Shizzagee.

The Shizzagee
The Shizzagee Clive Khaki welcomes everyone to his television show Splendid Species, as shizzagee Shiz wonders who that maniac is. However, his human friend, Brutus McGrutus, swipes the remote, arguing it's his favorite nature show. Shiz takes the remote back and will agree to watch, but if it stinks, he's "clicking." Clive holds up a picture of a shizzagee, a beast that's been extinct for hundreds of years, something Shiz can't bare to hear, but maybe the shizzagee isn't really so extinct after all! Clive says everyone knows the shizzagee's favorite food is Caesar salad, so the "crouton" he found in the Amazon jungle tells him that there may still be one of them left. This news makes Shiz overjoyed and he tells Brutus to get packed, as they're going to the Amazon! Brutus gives Shiz a reality check; they can't just GO to the Amazon, and Shiz agrees since they've got to find Brutus' dad's frequent flyer miles first. As Shiz searches through the house, Clive unveils his scheme; he's going to capture that shizzagee to put him in his Splendid Species Zoo! On the flight, Shiz is unhappy about being crated in the cargo hold, while putting up with a whiny cat riding in another crate. Now in the Amazon, Brutus brings up a point to Shiz that he's allergic to jaguars and boa constrictors. However, Shiz quiets him, as the "yammering" will scare off all the other shizzagees. Brutus tries to walk quietly, before getting eaten by a crocodile, but Shiz is able to go in it and pull him out. Brutus thinks the Amazon is over a million square miles, wondering how Shiz expects to find another shizzagee. Suddenly, he picks up a scent, thinking it's anchovy-based, garlic and just a hint of lemon; Caesar-dressing! Shiz and Brutus run off to pursue it, as they indeed find another shizzagee. Shiz is lovestruck, however Brutus figures out that other shizzagee is a trap, and Shiz gets caged. He doesn't need this, as it's bad enough that he's extinct! Clive, who is ironing his clothes, hears his alarm, telling him he's got a real, live extinct shizzagee. Shiz says it's Brutus' fault, but he argues it wasn't his idea to come to the Amazon. With no time for apologies, Shiz just wants to get out before Clive shows up. Brutus has an idea, by telling Shiz to rub butter all over him, as it will make him slippery and he can slide through the cage bars. Shiz agrees, but he thinks it won't help his cholesterol. As Brutus pulls Shiz out of the cage, there's a new problem; now Brutus is in it. Brutus begs Shiz to save himself, because when Clive sees Brutus, he'll let him go. Clive and his cameraman arrive to the cage, and he says to look at the rare, short-snouted and short-tailed extinct shizzagee. Brutus cuts in, but Clive tells everyone to listen to that sound "she's" making and that glazed expression on the shizzagee face means "she's" going to have a baby! Brutus is still confused, but is muzzled by Clive, promising to be taken good care of at the Splendid Species Zoo and can have babies in peace. Brutus yells for Shiz to help, who is far away, yet hears his friend's call. Clive says this is REALLY exciting as he's got a real, live shizzagee in his possession. However, Shiz returns, saying shizzagees aren't only known for their large snouts and fluffy tails; they're also famous for their blazing fastball, throwing a coconut at Clive, who admits he has a REALLY bad headache and faints! Back at home, Brutus tells Shiz to not give up hope, because after all, Clive did find croutons which could mean there really is another shizzagee, and Shiz supposes. Brutus tells Shiz he has been invited to spring training with the Yankees, but Shiz is unamused as he is still extinct, and doesn't like it!

Henry and June Act 5
Mr Foot Forth Wall breaking Delivery Henry says it's been quite a show, as the viewers have been lucky enough to witness his and June's death-defying journey to the real world. June awards her fellow pioneer a handsome medallion, made up to commemorate the occasion. June asks Henry how it feels to be one of the first two cartoon characters in history to make it to the real world, and he says everyone can read about it in his harrowing, personal account Into Real Air. Suddenly, they hear knocking and Mr. Foot answers the "REAL WORLD" door, getting a pizza from a live-action deliverer. Mr. Foot makes payment and takes his pizza into the cartoony studio, as Henry and June, in embarrassment, toss their medallions away. June says they've got to be going, "really," as Henry begs her not to use that word. She agrees, and they'll see the viewers next time, closing the comic book.
