They Might Be Giants (often abbreviated as TMBG) is an American alternative rock band formed in 1982 by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. During the band's early years Flansburgh and Linnell frequently performed as a duo, often accompanied by a drum machine. In the early 1990s, they expanded to include a backing band. The duo's current backing band consists of Marty Beller, Dan Miller and Danny Weinkauf. The group is best known for an unconventional and experimental style of alternative music.

The band was featured on Nickelodeon from time to time. They were first shown in 1989 performing on the show Nick Rocks, which featured pop and rock music videos. During an episode of Clarissa Explains it All, Clarissa confesses her love for John Linnell. Two of their songs could be heard on Tiny Toon Adventures, "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" and "Particle Man" and two other songs were also featured with music videos on KaBlam!, "Why Does the Sun Shine? (The Sun Is a Mass of Incandescent Gas)" on Under New Management and "Doctor Worm" on Going the Extra Mile.

  • Why Does the Sun Shine?: A music video about a group of people trying to learn about the sun when the actual sun comes to the laboratory. It appeared in the Season 4 episode "Under New Management".
  • Doctor Worm: A music video about a worm who tries to make friends with real life people by telling them that he can play the drums and he is a real worm. It appeared in the Season 4 episode "Going the Extra Mile".
